Testimonials from kids, parents and the community

“I want to give a shout-out to Sport Central for the bike they donated to me in 2012 when I was attending Mother Theresa School. It meant a lot to me and gave me a sense of freedom to go and hang out with friends, travel to soccer practice and go to the Mall. I want to give them support and thank them for everything they have done for me!”

“Thank you so much for everything you have done for us after Jack’s equipment was stolen. Words cannot express how much we appreciate it. You helped turn a terrible situation into an amazing memory we will never forget. Thank you again!”

- Jack’s parents

“Dear Sport Central. My name is Harnoor from the grade 6 class at Kameyosek School and wanted to thank you for giving our class skates. First, I was freaked out to skate, but when I went on the ice it was just like rollerskating! I always wanted to skate and now I go skating all the time and I’m going to take skating classes soon too! I am really really thankful to you for the skates you gave me to keep! They also fit really good, so thanks for getting us the right size!

“As a Band Councillor I have personally seen the positive benefits directly related to participation in sport, play, and physical activity. Having access to equipment necessary to participate in sport and recreation provides an opportunity for our youth to pursue more positive, productive lifestyles. In addition to increased fitness levels and reduction of obesity, sport and recreation, especially team sports, give children and youth access to mentoring and positive role models. Participation in team sport teaches leadership skills and problem solving as well as opportunities for children to build friendships and have fun. Without Sport Central’s Outreach Partnership program this would not have been possible. It is important that this program continue to expand. I encourage Sport Central to expand their program to other regions of the Province.”

- Jason MakinawCouncillor, Ermineskin Cree Nation

“We, the Driftpile Cree Nation would like to thank you so very much for your generous donation. It is because of organizations and people like you that make a difference in a child’s life. Many of the children who have been blessed by your donation would not have had the opportunity to either participate in activities or sports without your generosity. From the bottom of our hearts, we are truly grateful and appreciate your kindness.”

- Karen CunninghamDirector of Social Development, Driftpile Cree Nation

“On behalf of Peavine Metis Settlement, I thank you for your generous donation of sports equipment. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used by the Peavine youth.”

“As President of the Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association, I would like to show our support for Sport Central as being a community minded organization who helped Fort McMurray during one of the worst disasters in Canadian history. Our community was the beneficiary of immense generosity and support from sport Central during the evacuation and subsequent long term disaster recovery from the 2016 wildfire.”

- Travis Galenzoski President, Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association

“To Sport Central. The Chateh RCMP Detachment recognizes your continued efforts to positively impact the community and Northern Alberta. On behalf of the Chateh RCMP Detachment, I wish to thank you for your dedication to the RCMP and the North.”
